Houston St. The Revel Group, a firm that specializes in breathing new life into historic structures, rehabilitated the building in eight months. "We are delighted that GD&C has taken up residence in their new offices," said Tony Bradfield, the president of Revel Group. "The building is a bookend for the Houston Street redevelopment project. "We feel that GD&C's expansion is another step towards creating a southern Madison Avenue," he said. "Between GD&C and Bromley Communications, Houston Street is now the home to some of the best minds in the PR and Advertising business." The three-story Italianate structure built in the 1880s was once the Savoy Hotel, but was abandoned in the 1930s. It suffered major fire damage in 1991. "When we first visited last May, it looked like a place where poltergeists took their smoke break," said Tess Coody, partner and chief operating officer of the advertising and public relations agency. "It was scary and dark," she continued. GD&C occupies all 11,000 square feet of the second floor. Celebrating the rebirth of the street Frank Guerra, GD&C CEO and partner said, "There is just such great synergy linking the new direction Houston Street is headed with that of our agency." The street level tenants at the building will include Quick Print Inc., Verizon Communications and City Market deli. apesquera@express-news.net Copyright 2001 San Antonio Express-News Record Number: 537623
